Fire Watch Written by Nick Clifford

KDE Documentation

The KDE version is an applet that runs on the KDE taskbar, it was written under a KDE 3.3 environment, but it should work on any KDE 3 version.

The KDE version sorely trails behind the Windows version in terms of bug fixes and features. This is because most of the users run the Windows version, and the squeeky wheel gets the greese.

I update the KDE version about 20% as often as the Windows version. If you have any specific requests for the KDE version, or just want me to release a new version with more features, please email me.

Installing

The KDE version currently comes only as source code. I have not released any binaries. If you would like to package this product up for me, please feel free.

Compiling the source

This should be very straight forward, provided you have the KDE development packages:

# tar -xzf knzfirewatch-1.1.0.tar.gz
# cd knzfirewatch-1.1.0
# ./configure
# make
# su
$ make install

Afterwards, you should find the Applet is available in the Add Applet menu in the KDE taskbar.

Bugs

Oh, probably hundreds. If you find anything that doesn't work as it should, please email me.
