Windows Documentation

This page documents instructions specific to the Windows version, such as setting the software up, and any bugs or work-arounds.

General instructions specific to any version are available here. You should probably read the documentation section first.

Installing

WNZFireWatch is available as a single executable file (exe file). This is the entire program, there are no other required files or DLLs. You should be able to download this file and run it straight from your Desktop.

Step-by-step

Step 1 Click here to start the download. When asked where to save the file, select your Windows desktop.

Step 2 Once the file has downloaded onto your desktop, minimize or close the currently open windows, and double click on the WNZFireWatch icon on the desktop.

Step 3 A small coloured icon should appear in your system tray (next to the clock, usually at the bottom right of the screen).

Done It is now running. Right click on the coloured icon to see options, or double click to open the calendar.

Bugs

Heheh, none? Nah, there is one bug that I am aware of:

Blank Calendar bug. This bug is when the user opens the calendar and the calendar window is blank. For some reason Windows doesn't repaint the window correctly.

The work around is to go forward and back one month. Some users find after opening the window the first time, closing it, and opening it again the calendar is now displayed correctly.

I have attempted to work-around this bug by instructing Windows to repaint the calendar 100ms after it is displayed. This seems to fix it for everyone I have asked. If this bug occurs with you, please email me to let me know.
